Prison Break “Five the Hard Way”

Parth Desai ('09) October 8, 2008
This week on Prison Break, members of Agent Self’s handpicked group went to Las Vegas in pursuit of the fifth Scylla card. Sucre, Sara, Roland and Lincoln all went to Vegas while Michael, Bellick and Mahone went searching for T-Bag. T-Bag, who was threatened and tortured by Gretchen, is also trying to get Scylla. He managed to trick Bellick and took Michael, Mahone and Bellick hostage before Mahone escaped. Michael had to help him decode Whistler’s Bird Book. Mahone immediately found Self and told him what happened, and they rescued the group while trapping T-Bag underground. But Michael later found out that T-Bag was working for Gretchen, the woman who held Sara hostage, and he was threatened to get T-Bag out of the place he was trapped.

Heroes “I Am Become Death”

Volume III, “Villains,” continued this week, dividing airtime between present-day and four years in the future. The future is a very different place, where Claire, Daphne and Knox (Level 5 detainee) are all evil. Claire even shoots Uncle Peter point blank, leaving present-day Peter left running for his life in the future, as she is after him as well. In this future world, abilities are for sale to the highest bidder, making it easier than ever to be a world-class criminal.

Dillon Rosenblatt (’12) October 7, 2008

Also, Dexter has to deal with the shocking news that he may be a father. Dexter keeps having these random “dreams” that his future child will turn out just like him, a killer. Meanwhile, Miguel and Dexter find themselves tracking down the same killer, Freebo. Deb, on the other hand, has found a very useful lead, an informant named Anton (David Ramsey), hoping to find Freebo so she can receive her “shield” (a.k.a her promotion).

Country singer Chuck Wicks

Chuck Wicks: the next Tim McGraw or Jonny Cash? Probably not. Chuck Wicks is the newest addition to country music. Of course he discovered his talent in Nashville, TN after college- possibly a little too late in his life. He grew up in Smyrna, Delaware, where there are two or three radio stations that play country music without static as a backup singer. His hit song “Stealing Cinderella” is a beautiful song about a guy asking to marry the girl from her father. I think it is sung very well, but I’m having trouble getting over the fact that he is very unoriginal.

Eagle Eye

Andrew Huff ('10) October 6, 2008
Technology has become the focal point of debate as surveillance and security have crossed the boundaries of privacy. The eye in the sky is watching you, so be careful what you say. Jerry Shaw, a downer accustomed to working at Copy Cabana and hustling his friends at poker, has been “activated”, or, in other words, chosen. Following the death of his twin brother, Ethan, a military hero, Jerry’s mundane life halts with the discovery of terroristic weaponry scattered about his apartment.

Saturday Night Live “Anne Hathaway/The Killers”

Chris Smith ('12)/For Eastside October 6, 2008
In this week's episode of “Saturday Night Live” there was a guest appearance by Queen Latifah. Anne Hathaway was the host and The Killers performed some of their songs. The show starts off with Queen Latifah in a parody of the recent Vice Presidential debate. Tina Fey does an outstanding job as she reprises her role as Governor Sarah Pallin. There is only one word to describe this opening skit: “Maverick.” The show progresses to Anne Hathaway’s introduction, and a few more skits which include four singing sisters, a C-Span press conference with impressions of George Bush and Nancy Pelosi, a skit with four single men at a night club and a SNL digital short. These acts all led up to The Killers' first performance. They performed their new single “Human” which was released in September. This song should be listened to by anyone who enjoys The Killers. They are back with this fun, semi techno and slow paced hit. It should definitely be considered in your next trip to the iTunes store.

Bones “The Crank in the Shaft”

An elevator malfunction turns into a deadly situation, literally, when a woman’s leg, complete with a high heel, falls through an elevator shaft and into the elevator of an office supply building. The woman is identified as Patty Hoyle, the meanest employee in the building. This knowledge gives everyone in the office motive, making Booth and Brennan’s job that much harder in an office filled with so many cubicles. It also leads our favorite crime fighting duo to consider the idea that there may be more than one killer.

90210 “Model Behavior”

Shanice Davis ('12) October 1, 2008

House “Adverse Events”

He is exceptionally proud of his work, yet the woman’s husband is furious with him for not making the image realistic. The artist maintains it his the best work he’s ever done. Viewers are finally shown what the painting looks like, and the portrait is not realistic at all, but completely distorted. Somebody call a doctor. We learn House’s new best friend, the private investigator, is named Lucas Douglas. House is still trying to get the hospital to pay for his services, which he is wisely utilizing to run background checks on his team.

Heroes “One of Us, One of Them”

This week’s “Heroes” picked up right where we left off last week, with Angela Petrelli informing Sylar that he was her biological son. Angela, the new head of The Company, wants Sylar assigned as Bennet’s partner to retrieve the escapees of Level 5. Sylar is not evil, says Angela, “he just needs structure.” Jump forward a few minutes, and we see present-day Peter, who is trapped inside Jesse‘s, a villain’s, body, with the other Level 5 escapees robbing a bank. We don’t know what Jesse’s power is, or if Peter can use it, but the other three have fireballs, some sort of magnetic motion and the ability to punch through solid mass.

Prison Break “Blow Out”

Parth Desai ('09)/For Eastside October 1, 2008
On the brink of retrieving the information of yet another one of the six cards that hold "Scylla," former Federal Agent Alex Mahone's temper got the best of him when he punched an officer and got himself arrested trying to retrieve Roland's WI-FI device. He went to jail and Agent Self's handpicked group of people chosen to take down The Company became shorthanded. There were mixed feelings as to whether or not it was worth it to try to break Mahone out of jail, but they ended up making the attempt anyway. Speaking of Mahone, he and Wyatt, the man who killed his son, had a heated phone conversation which might be William Fichtner's best scene on “Prison Break” this season.
