Gabrielle Kains (’12)/Eastside Managing Editor

Gabrielle prefers to be called Gabi, spelled with one “b” and one “i”.  Like Alana, she loves Camp Mataponi.  She laughs a lot and is always paranoid about being on time but otherwise, she is just an average girl.

Hailey Edelstein (’12)/Eastside Editor-in-Chief

Hailey’s favorite color is dark purple, but she also likes lime green. She loves the snow more than anything else and looks forward to winter more than any other season. Conveniently, her birthday is also in the winter. She also really likes chocolate, the weekends and Eastside, of course.

Max Cohen (’12)/Eastside Editor-in-Chief

Max Cohen enjoys beating Jake Fischer in basketball every Friday at the JCC. Max loves all Philadelphia sports teams as well as all East sports teams. Even though Max is undisputedly not talented enough to play an East sport, he shows his love for East Sports through Eastside.

Juliet Brooks (’13)/Eastside News/Features Editor

Juliet loves to write and run. She writes fiction and poetry in her spare time, but not the fan-fiction kind. She runs more than she ever thought she would, especially considering the fact that she used to think people who exercised were masochistic. Juliet was born in New York City and a lone paper fluttering in a half-hearted breeze is enough to set her reminiscing for hours. She went to Spain over the summer and learned how to take risks. Juliet’s accomplishments include performing critical armpit surgery on the large monkey in the corner of F087 and writing.

Jake Fischer (’12)/Eastside Sports Editor

Jake Fischer enjoys dominating Max Cohen in Sports Debates (Whether East sports or Philadelphia sports) everyday in F087. Jake loves participating in fantasy sports and religiously watching reality TV shows. On the average day, Jake also plans his homework and after school schedules around his nightly TV programs such as Two and a Half Men, and How I Met Your Mother. Jake is also commonly found eating and snacking throughout 8th period and all Eastside activities.

Emmy Silverman (’13)/Eastside Sports Editor

You may find Emmy Silverman on the field hockey field or dancing at Marcia
Hyland Dance Center, but you might have to look closely because she is only
4’10″. Did you know Emmy is also an avid hair braider and friendship
bracelet maker? You may hear Emmy singing, but you might want to plug your
ears because she’s tone deaf. Emmy’s brother, Zak, won the Eastside Monkey
at an Eastside trip to Six Flags – so thank her for not keeping it to
herself and for allowing the monkey family to start and expand in room F089.
Lastly, do not confuse her for her twin sister Katie – they look nothing
alike.

Hannah Feinberg (’12)/Eastside Underground Editor

Hannah Feinberg does not own a cat.  She would like one named Earl and one named Robespierre.  She is not old enough to see R-rated movies, but thinks One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was a pretty good film.  She has mixed feelings about Wes Anderson.  Hannah seems fairly literature-savvy, but she really spends most of her time watching TV.

Danielle Fox (’13)/Eastside Entertainment Editor

The girl in the photograph has been nicknamed Dani, Dee, DFox and Elle; alas, none of the monikers have stuck, and thus she has been forced to resort to the very mundane name of Danielle. To compensate, she gets to flaunt a very foxy last name. Danielle Fox has an extremely fascinating life. She enjoys reading Jane Austen novels and watching John Hughes films in her spare time. When Danielle is not reading or watching films, she’s probably writing articles for Eastside, while listening to The Smiths or the Amélie film soundtrack.  Danielle also has a horrible habit of collecting knickknacks, fortune cookie fortunes and cards. Besides that, Danielle is pretty much your average, fantastic Fox.

Sherin Nassar (’13)/Eastside Humor Editor

Sherin’s name is spelled with only one r, one n and one i , although
people often add more vowels than necessary. Sherin is pronounced
She…rin, said really quickly. She likes to write, read and  watch
odd documentaries that usually involve seaturtles or Morgan Freeman.
If sherin could be in one movie it would be the Breakfast club, which
is her favorite movie of all time. There once was an old age where
Sherin liked cool facts, but those days are long gone, though
occasionally you might hear a random fact blurted out by force of
habit. One thing many people do not know about Sherin is that she handwrites
everything before she types it on the computer, including her long
eastside stories, which she loves writing

Rebecca Ohnona (’12)/Eastside Community Editor

You may know Rebecca Ohnona as a dancer, a runner on the cross country team, a health food junkie, or even the annoying Eastside Editor who constantly passes out surveys. You will either find Rebecca at the new local (insert yogurt place here),  BBMing on her constantly-vibrating BlackBerry,  at the gym, or at Jazz Unlimited, where she is a member of the dance ensemble. A day in Rebecca’s mind would probably be the most hectic place in the world.

Matt Lichtenstadter (’12)/Eastside Opinions Editor

Matt Lichtenstadter has an opinion… on everything. And we mean everything. Even if you ask him about the politics of Sri Lanka, he’ll have an opinion on that.  And he is a true Jacksonville Jaguars fan, so they do actually exist… barely. If you want to find him in F087 8th period, you won’t, because he’s in Bio 2AP.

Kobi Malamud (’12)/Eastside Radio Editor

Kobi, yes, Kobi with an “i”, cannot stand when people spell his name with any variation of the first and last letters.   If you look for him on an average school day you might find him speed-walking through c-wing,  listening to and mouthing 2Pac songs, while chomping down on the usual Clif Bar.  Most people are surprised to learn that he is half Hispanic, and he can hardly believe so himself, barely speaking a word of Spanish.  He loves listening to music, hanging with friends, watching and playing football, and of course Israel.
