Scoop de Ville stimulates summer taste buds

The start of summer marks the start of trying new things, branching out of your comfort zone and eating lots and lots of ice cream.  Scoop De Ville, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is not yet known to many.  I took a recent trip to the parlor and it  exceeded my expectations from the second I walked inside.

To begin, the ambience of this small ice cream shop was enticing.  Since the shop was described as an “exotic ice cream parlor”, I was unsure of what to expect.  Although parking was scarce, the walk from the car was totally worth it.  You could smell the delicious treats all the way from down the block.

The many options on the menu made it so hard to choose what I wanted.  The options ranged from creating your own sundae from an endless list of ice cream flavors and toppings, to mouth-watering signature sundaes.  If you were in the mood for something different, the parlor also had root beer floats, milkshakes, banana splits, brownie sundaes, ice cream pie and even ice cream cakes.

Once decided, I ordered “The Charlie Brown”.  This dessert consists of vanilla ice cream or yogurt (I went with the yogurt) blended with peppermint patties, Nutella, chocolate chip cookie dough and lastly topped off with hot fudge.  Let me tell you, there was absolutely nothing wrong with this. I did not even mind the walk back to the car for it did not hurt to burn off some calories after the enormous sundae I ate!

It was official for I had discovered my new favorite ice cream parlor in the area.  I would even rate the parlor a full five stars. Scoop De Ville will definitely become a staple in my summer diet.
