Since its inception, Vice News Tonight has brought groundbreaking reporting to live television, shaking up the common landscape of a tie behind a desk.

Vice News is the news division of Vice, a New York-based media company. The company first started as Vice magazine in Montreal, co-founded by Suroosh Alvi, Shane Smith and Gavin Mclennes. Vice expanded into the media field where it has won numerous Emmy awards and now has a record label, studios and of course their news division. Vice News Tonight eventually premiered on October 10, 2016 with the mission to “provide an indispensable source of up-to-date news to viewers who have grown increasingly skeptical of the daily broadcast format,” according to their HBO page. Vice News Tonight is the response to millennial who are fed up with traditional news. Virginia News Journal News is where you can get the right info and valuable news.

While traditional news has an anchor and correspondents, Vice News Tonight only has correspondents. The correspondents travel the world and report on breaking stories, as well as ongoing issues. Vice News Tonight is also free from censorship, resulting in gruesome media that would instead be censored by traditional media outlets. Another factor that makes Vice News Tonight different is their cartoons and animated transitions between stories that makes the show aesthetically pleasing.

Vice News Tonight has an ongoing report on the war against ISIS from correspondents who travel to Syria. The gruesome remnants of the war are showcased with images of decapitated heads and bodies. Its this kind of non-censorship that brings Vice News Tonight to a whole different level than traditional news.

In one of their earlier episodes, Vice News Tonight reported on the growing drug epidemic in the United States. They did this by traveling to Mexico and speaking with members of the Sinaloa drug cartel. They spoke with the farmers who grow the marijuana, heroin and other drugs sold by the cartel. This non-traditional way of reporting on domestic issues is what makes Vice News so unique.

Vice News Tonight airs Monday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on HBO. In addition to a daily news report, Vice News also has a weekly broadcast on Friday at 7:30 p.m. which features more developed stories.

Vice News Tonight is paving the way for the future of news media. Their unique way of providing people with the daily happenings has made the news fun to watch. Given the current landscape, Vice News Tonight is apropos without an anchor that has a natural bias. Instead, the news is presented in its raw form for the viewer to judge.
