East plans to host its first ever community yard sale tomorrow.

As summer has come and gone, the time to make room for the Fall and Winter seasons approaches. Cherry Hill East’s inaugural Community-wide Yard Sale and Vendor Sale aims to allow the community to do just that.

On Saturday, October 21st, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., East will be lined with independent sellers, along with residents of the community to come on down, with a wide range of items surely to be up for sale. Sellers will begin setting up at 7 a.m.

In conjunction with the Community Sale, Habitat for Humanity will be hosting their ‘Stuff a Truck’ event, at which donations of clothing, furniture, home decorations, building supplies, and anything else hiding in Cherry Hill attics can find a new home with people who need them. The truck will be located in the flagpole parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hot Dogs, Pretzels, Baked Goods and Refreshments will also be available for sale.

Mrs. Susan Melograna and Mrs. Nora Smaldore, advisors of the Class of 2019 Student Government Association (SGA), have led the cause to raise money for all members of the East community through the Community Wide Yard Sale. The yard sale, which was planned and organized by advisors from all four class SGAs

“[If the yard sale] catches on and becomes a popular community event [it could become annual]” said Melograna.

For Smaldore, the event represents what could be the start of a new East tradition.

“[The yard sale could] start a tradition that could be as popular as the other East events” [we are] are hoping that more people come out and [will] raise awareness for [East and Habitat for Humanity],” said Smaldore.

In regards to spreading the word, students and faculty are having trouble informing communities outside of East.

“We have sent the information and flyers to various Cherry Hill Township areas, but haven’t seen it posted” said Melograna.
